Melissa A. Schwartz, J.D.

Managing Attorney

Attorney Schwartz is the Managing Attorney of Your Legal Service, PLLC.  She is a General Civil Mediator and member of the State Bar of Michigan, Federal Bar Association, American Trial Lawyer’s Association, and Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity. She is the recipient of many academic and service awards, including the Spirit of Detroit award.

Before earning her Juris Doctor degree, Ms. Schwartz earned a paralegal degree with honors. She has many years of experience in plaintiff and defense litigation; and held the position of Wayne County Legal Department’s Crime Victim Advocate with the City of Detroit Police Department Investigative Officer’s Unit.

Ms. Schwartz earned her undergraduate degree in Family Law Education at the Spring Arbor University with honors. She received her law degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law where she was elected and served as class President; served as a law clerk intern to Chief Judge Bernard A. Friedman of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan; and was a legal intern for the Wayne County Legal Aid & Public Defender’s Office where she represented the interests of indigent defendants.  Ms. Schwartz has worked in the legal field for over thirty years.

Prior to earning her doctoral degree in law, Attorney Schwartz graduated in the medical field with honors. Her medical knowledge combined with her legal education have played a key role in favorable personal injury and dog bite injury awards for clients.

AnnMarie Devito, Esq.

AnnMarie Devito, Esq. is a 1999 graduate of the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law.  While in law school, she served as Associate Editor on the Law Review Board.  She also served on the Moot Court Board of Directors. 

While on Moot Court, she won first place at the annual William H. Gallagher Moot Court Competition.  Ms. Devito is also a recipient of the Order of Barristers Award for Outstanding Courtroom Advocacy.  Ms. Devito was a Public Defender for the 32A District Court. 

She has experience in both plaintiff and defense litigation where she applies her dedicated wealth of knowledge to zealously advocate for clients.  She focuses her career on the needs of individuals and families and is compassionate to the importance of mediating in order to facilitate and achieve the clients’ goals.  Ms. Devito practices family law and probate law.

Richard D. Schenkel II, Esq.

Richard D. Schenkel II achieved his law from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law ranking at the top third of his class. He also has a Bachelors Degree in Philosophy and a minor in music from Oakland University.

Richard concentrates in helping clients in the areas of family law, estate planning, and probate law.  He also has years of experience in general practice including driving
offenses and collection matters.

When not practicing law, Richard enjoys running, composing music, and spending time with his wife and children.
